It’s Christmas and we all love to overindulge a little over the festive period, so we’ve put together a list of some great cocktails to impress your guests this Christmas. We’ve got a variety to choose from, including 3 ingredient cocktails as well as premixed cocktails and something a little more complicated with the wow factor.
Popcorn Espresso Martini
The espresso martini is a globally popular cocktail and is the perfect after dinner drink giving you the coffee hit to keep you awake alongside the alcohol. We’ve got a slightly different take on the traditional cocktail though to make it a little bit different and inject a different dimension in to the drink. The base of the cocktail is still the same as a traditional espresso martini with vodka, Kahlua and coffee in, however, instead of using sugar syrup, try adding some Monin popcorn syrup to give the cocktail another dimension. Also, instead of the usual 3 coffee bean garnish in triangular shape, add a piece of popcorn instead.
A delicious aperitif for after a meal, it cleanses the palette with is sharp and bitter and delivers a good alcoholic kick whilst being a short drink and therefore not waterlogging you. Negroni’s typically consist of gin, Campari and sweet vermouth making it a simple 3 ingredient cocktail that looks appealing in the glass. All you do is add the ingredients to a short glass with a few cubes of ice and a slice of orange peel. You can do a few twists to this cocktail as well and add in some orange bitters or some spice to make it a little more Christmassy.
After Eight Martini
A rich, creamy and intense cocktail with that great after eight taste. Mint and chocolate are superb after a meal and this cocktail truly is the drink equivalent of the chocolate. The drinks consists of Bailey’s Irish Cream, Crème De Menthe, Chocolate Syrup and vodka giving you a great hit of alcohol whilst at the same time not tasting particularly alcoholic. There are a few different ways to garnish this cocktail, you can either go with chocolate powder on the top or you could buy some After Eight chocolates, put then on a cocktail stick and place on the top of the glass to add a little more theatre to the experience.
Easier Cocktail Options
There are a wide variety of different options available for people who don’t want to spend the money on buying a variety of different spirits, having to buy all of the cocktail making equipment like the shaker, glass, stirrers and glassware as well as ice. There are some great ready to drink cocktails now available from mojitos and negronis through to long island ice and cosmopolitans. Simply put your can in the fridge, wait for it to cool down, pour in to a glass and enjoy. You can also add some fresh fruit garnish if you’d like to get the true cocktail experience. The great thing about these cocktails is that you can try a variety of different cocktails with ease.
